About Kingsley Napley

Kingsley Napley is an internationally recognised law firm based in central London. They offer a wide range of expertise to support clients in all areas of business and personal life. Many of their lawyers are leaders in their field, and their practice areas are highly ranked by legal directories.

The challenge

Kingsley Napley set out to build the digital law firm of the future, using generative AI in a way that was practical, secure and aligned with the standards of legal services.

The firm needed a platform that could support internal use and client-facing services, while protecting confidentiality, supporting compliance and helping teams work more efficiently.

Kingsley Napley goals were to:

  • support firmwide adoption of secure and reliable AI
  • streamline internal work, including document analysis and knowledge access
  • explore client-facing legal knowledge services
  • better understand the impact of AI on internal operations and client delivery

Rather than buy an off-the-shelf product or build a system from scratch, Kingsley Napley chose to work with Kalisa. This gave the firm the speed and support of a proven platform, with the flexibility to shape it around its own knowledge, standards and use cases.

“It was important to us that we did not just follow the crowd.”
Sarah Harris, Director of Innovation and Knowledge and Partner

The solution

Kingsley Napley launched KNavigate, its customised deployment of the Kalisa platform.

Already in use across the firm since January 2026 and now being trialled with select clients, KNavigate gives lawyers and business services teams a safe, practical way to use AI in their day-to-day work, while also supporting new client-facing services.

Designed specifically for legal work, KNavigate combines advanced generative AI with built-in guardrails that help protect confidentiality and keep responses reliable, appropriate and aligned with the firm’s standards.

The platform supports different user journeys through tailored workspaces. Lawyers, internal teams and clients can each access the information and tools relevant to their role, with clear boundaries around what they can see and do.

Kingsley Napley has also customised the platform using its own branding and identity, so KNavigate feels like a natural extension of the firm rather than a separate tool.

“It is very user friendly, adaptable and more articulate than any other tool I have used in this space.” Partner, Criminal Litigation

How Kingsley Napley is using Kalisa

Supporting drafting and early-stage thinking

KNavigate includes Kalisa Sandbox Agents, which provide a secure AI-powered workspace for tasks such as summarising, rewriting, analysing text and exploring ideas.

“KNavigate has become part of my everyday work essential toolkit.”
Executive Assistant

Automating repeatable document work

Kalisa Workflows help Kingsley Napley review large volumes of documents in a consistent way and generate structured, comparable outputs. Within KNavigate, workflows are used for tasks such as reviewing document bundles, comparing clauses and producing organised outputs across multiple files.

“This cuts down hours worth of time for me.”
Claire Green, Chief Legal Officer

Making internal knowledge easier to access

Kingsley Napley also uses Kalisa Knowledge Agents to give staff easier access to internal information. Teams can query HR and practice management information, as well as legal expertise and know-how, through a simple interface.

Beta testing new client-facing legal knowledge services

Kingsley Napley is also beta testing Kalisa Knowledge Agents as part of a subscription-based Q&A service for select clients. These agents are powered by the firm’s own knowledge and expertise, alongside curated and approved sources, giving clients access to trusted legal information while keeping bespoke human advice at the centre of the service.

Monitoring usage and improving performance

Kalisa Analytics gives Kingsley Napley visibility into platform usage and engagement, while keeping individual conversations private. This helps the team understand what is delivering value and where the platform can be improved without accessing users’ messages, outputs or chat history.

“KNavigate has been phenomenal to work with.”

The impact

With Kalisa, Kingsley Napley is building a more practical and secure model for legal AI.

  • Strong adoption across the firm: Since launch, KNavigate has been adopted by almost 80% of Kingsley Napley’s legal and business services teams.
  • Robust Data Security: Kalisa’s platform ensures that sensitive client data is protected and never used for model training, maintaining trust and compliance.
  • AI Engagement and Learning: Giving Kingsley Napley a safe and reliable place to build out their work and knowledge flows, allowing people across the firm to experiment and learn about how to adopt AI in their work, and how they might then surface this to clients.
  • Stronger Internal Efficiency: Staff can access firm-specific information more effectively, allowing them to focus on higher-value tasks.
  • Enhanced Client Offerings: Subscription-based Q&A services powered by Kalisa agents providing certain clients with quick and reliable access to baseline legal knowledge.
“I am delighted by KNavigate’s success so far and its enthusiastic adoption by people across all areas of the firm.” Matt Meyer, Managing Partner

As an independent law firm, we had the opportunity to think differently about how we would approach the AI question at our firm. It was important to us that we did not - certainly at this early stage - just follow the crowd. In addition, the workflows and knowledge of our internal experts are extremely precious to the business, and something that we want to preserve for ourselves and for our clients. It was important for us to demonstrate that there are cost-effective ways of accessing this powerful technology, with the right collaborations and outlook.
